there is one word that continually came to mind as prism yoga was becoming itself ~ humility. humility is not a matter of low self worth but rather a lowering of one’s ego. to be in service to those in need; a call to action imminently required in today’s world. prism yoga’s logo, along with the image above, shows both strength and humility. i don’t see one without the other. this posture is a choice, not an accident. through strength i gained true flexibility and through flexibility i became more supple in my thoughts, actions, communication etc... i walked a path of struggle and survival most of my life then a trusted mentor once told me ‘you may be strong little girl but there are things in this world that can and will crush you’. i eventually came to realize I can use the events of my life as a means to become whole and be of service to others vs using it as armor to stay ‘safe’. the image also serves as a conscious or even subconscious message to a potential audience of what we will embark upon together. we will get into our ‘stuff’ and we will go deeply... but i’ll be right next to you, not in front of you, guiding with humility and from a place of experience. i have walked the path of which i teach. as those who choose to embark on this journey gain not only physical flexibility but also mental and emotional flexibility, i will endeavor to share my journey, at least in part, to this point and as it continues to unfurl. the role of teacher and student should interchange regularly to maintain balance. i learn a great deal from those who come to my classes and private sessions and it is in this axiom the logo design was ‘seen’. balance is found through a humble understanding that true power, not unlike respect, is earned, not impressed upon from one to another
